Hey all,
My clutch is grabbing right near the top so I though I would have a look at the adjustments on the engine side. When I got the covers off there was no more adjustment, even the nut (towards the lever side) is missing.
Could it be that this is the wrong cable as it seems to be very difficult to route, currently in front of the spedo and then over the top of the top radiator to down under the frame.
Or is the clutch on the way out? does not seem to be slipping or anything.
Should I get a cable, new plates or both?
thanks

Re: RVF400 clutch
Yup, the only adjustment is in the cable. When you say its grabbing near the top, you mean you touch the lever and it slips? If that's the case then try slackening the cable off a bit as sometimes the cable drags and holds a bit of tension. As long as its not actually slipping I wouldn't worry too much, but if it is, then plates or diaphragm springs or both. I would worry about the nut you said was missing though.. maybe a sign of over adjustment? hard to say without seeing it.
As to routing the cable it goes up over the speedo (adjuster rubs the speedo unless you angle lever down) and then back over the top left hand side of the top rad and down to the gearbox.
