if i open the throttle from say 3k it splutters to around 7.5k but only once if i wind it on through the gears it doesnt do it after the inital splutter
if i slowly ease the throttle on it doesnt do it (maybevery very slightly)
iv juist bought it so im going to service it as soon as but my question is do i have a serious problem here ?

Give it a good service and read / follow cammos carb guide.
Chances are it's been standing for a while and the carbs have gummed up.. the slow circuits have very fine holes and can easily clog.
Check set valve clearances, overhaul and check carbs as per guide and balance carbs and it should be nice and smooth at idle and run well.
Doesn't sound serious at all

Cleaning carbs involves more than just crap in the tank and some spray...
Plugs die easily, people fuck about with "hi flo" air filters and cock the fuelling up etc.
Get it back to std and go from there.
Welcome to the site too... :)

NOw is the time to find out!
The box, 99% likely, is a speedo derestrictor, stops it cutting out at 112mph..that is all. NO rev increase, no power..nothing

it looks like its still restricted, hit 185/190 kmh today my and it just seemed to hit a wall power wise
185kmh is around the 112mph that they are limited to

What box do you have and where is it connected? If it's a restriction box and you remove it without reconnecting the original clocks the bike should misfire at 5500rpm.
