Vacuum pipes on tank - where do they go

Post by scooble » Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:04 pm

excuse me for being a bit of a newb, but as soon as I got my NC two weeks ago (it was a right shed), I started repairs on it immediatley. I see that the fuel tap has one fuel outlet and two other outlets, I'm assuming that one or both are vacuum connections, the trouble is, I have no idea where they go. Could anyone explain what and where they connect to, or better still, point me to a picture so that I can put it back together.

Thanks,

Tricia

No3 connects to the carbs - it is the main fuel pipe and the largest fitting on the tap.

no7 connects to the little brass spigot on the no3 cylinder (rear right) and is the vacuum hose. The other end goes on the outside of the smaller spigots on the tap.

sorted :whistle:

right, I've got the carbs on (I was dreading that - could have been worse).
Not I notice I have 2 (more) spare pipes as illustrated in this picture;

Therefore, I'm not sure where they go - they're not the ones that feed the CV chamber.
I'm not sure if they simply 'hang' there or are supposed to connect to something.

On that diagram, do 28 / 29 (pipes from the breather T-piece connect to anything?

No, they just hang down each side of the bike Neo.

Inspecting your new bike?

Well I overhauld the carbs a couple of weeks ago (I think you saw the thread I posted) and it runs really well now.

I just remembered that when re-assembling I had two loose pipes... couldn't remember if they connected or vented so I just left them to vent!

Need to replace the vaccumn hose, I used some 'aquarium' type piping but it flexes too much with the heat so have brought proper hose, so while i'm replacing the vaccumn hose, if those pipes needed to be connected somewhere i'd sort them out too :D

All spent out till next month when I plan to get some decals i've seen, change the fork and engine oil and thats about it for that month :D
