Re: NC30/35 rear shock options
If you found the threads related to fitting RS250, CBR RR and GSXR shocks then you have all the info needed. From memory the R6 shock is too short or too long i cant remember which.
All shocks will need resprung to suit the NC, or just buy one thats made for the NC
If your in the market for an ohlins then pretty much any tailored NC aftermarket shock such as maxton etc will be within your price range so why bother retro fitting another shock?

Penske is as good as Ohlins, I think, and very reasonably priced. Maxton may be the same for you folks across the pond

being able to ride from point A to point B does not mean you have skills

If you buy the ohlins one the valvng will probably be off anyway, and it will cost you a boat load to begin with.
I got an 07 GSXR shock and will be using that, it may be a tad long resulting in slightly too great a swingarm angle but you can use the ecentric rear axle to reduce this and get it between 12-14 degrees. I think they are about 10 as standard with the rear ecentric at the 3 o'clock position.
You can re-valve the GSXR shock too.
Thats just my 2c worth.

Re: NC30/35 rear shock options
I asked Gareth at Reactive Suspension his opinion on fitting a gsxr/cbr/rs250 shock to an NC and he reckoned it was a waste of time. All OE shocks, even the Ohlins ones fitted to certain bikes as standard, are budget items and in his opinion, not worth spending money on. Add in the fact that the valving on these shocks made for other bikes will be no where near right for an NC and I can't see why anyone fits them, irrelevant of how cheap they are.
On this advice I sourced what I thought and was listed as, an NC30 fitment WP shock from ebay for my NC30 project. Unfortunately it turns out it was a CBR600RR rear shock and although it fits, the valving and spring were so far out for an NC30 it cost me close to a couple of hundred quid to get it properly sorted.
