Ride height and exhaust clearance

Hey all,

Finally popped the cherry on my race NC30 today! After sitting in pieces for the past 2 months, I finally got it all together in time for practice and had a great time! (apart from running out petrol! ;) ). I desperately need to alter the gearing and get my timer/logger wired in, but by the end of the day it was feeling pretty good!

The only question I have is regarding ride height. I currently have standard NC30 linkage, Ohlins rear with +12mm length over stock, 17" RVF rear wheel and a TYGA full system (stainless oval). I have reached a point with the ride height where the swingarm is in contact with the exhaust at the top of the stroke and any further ride height increase will exaggerate this issue.

I have tried to jiggle the exhaust a bit but if I get better clearance with the swingarm, the linkage then fouls the exhaust! Has anyone with a similar setup found a solution to this, or am I just hitting the limit?

I have found the same issue with the RS250 shock, RVF linkage and my aftermarket systems on my road bike.

I find that I spend so little time with the shock topped out that it is a non issue. It happens...but isn't causing any problems for me.

how much rideheight have you guys gained before contact, I only got about 13mm (measured between subframe and rear axle) , and would like about 10mm more (so I also can raise the front a little, getting a bit more rad/tyre clearance). It's my spring touching the swingarm, I already made an adjustable linkage arm with a dogleg to clear the pipes.

It sounds like you measured your rideheight at the shock (+12mm) which is about the limit, at the linkage is roughly 2.5:1, so that is 30mm if measured between rear axle and subframe.

Is there any room for lowering the front?

Would you recommend an rvf linkage with an rs250 shock?

I have a Hagon shock fitted to mine and after I carried out the mod to change the ride height(weld and drill 8mm) the link is in constant contact with the exhaust under no load, have you done the link mod? and if so you might have to grind off the excess material, I need to do this but as Mark has said it doesn't foul when I ride it.
