CB400 - NC31... New Owner

Post by maurizio » Tue May 10, 2011 12:05 am

Hi,

just purchased a CB400 Superfour Project Big 1(NC31), and am very proud of it's condition and the reliability of this bike  Anyone has detailed instructions how to replace oil on this bike? and maybe frequency of change.

Also, it is running very rich :( how could i arrange it?

Also, has anyone ever encountered this problem:
When I attach the 'earth' of the front left indicator, it stays completely ON. When i remove earth its OK and works fine. The Headlamp works fine too, apart from when I use the PASS button... it just lower the illumination of the light... I guess there is a 'short'

thank you

Maurizio

Maurizio

I use 10/40 and find that it's OK.My annual mileage isn't that high so I change the oil at spring and again in the Autumn. I've listed below the refilling capacities taken from the manual that I have.

Refueling capacities:
The dry engine .................................................. 3,5 Ltr
With replacement of the filter ............................ 3,1 Ltr
Without replacement of the filter ....................... 2,9Ltr

You might want to double check these. My bike is a 94 NC31.

Can't help you much with the carbs.

Both my indicators, at the front, are on all the time. I assume that this is normal on the imported bikes. Also the headlight is always on.

Hope this helps

If it is running rich, start by checking the condition of the choke mechanism and the air filter. Is everything original?
