Over filled it with oil.

Yep did this with my last bike as well. Because i am a muppet and keep forgetting you can't check the oil level on the sidestand. Last bike pissed oil out of the airbox when i started it. Haven't started the 400 yet but what is likely to happen?

It needs an oil change (fairly new purchase so doing it to be safe) but thought i would top it up to keep it happy for now. Now it definitely needs the change

Could i just suck it out the excess with a turkey baster?

I am good at making the simple jobs difficult

Overfilling is no good for the engine, get rid of the excess either out of the dipstick hole or sump plug or empty the filter.

What ever you do dont start it until you have drained it back to the normal level, the engine isn't designed to cope with that amount of oil so you will get oil seals trying to escape and run away.

How do you get it out of the dipstick hole?
Cheers.

Hi,

As porndoguk said, you can use a

to suck the excessive oil

Been there , done that before. I also used the straw from a bottle of azax or any other kind of these comes handy to you.

And yes. DO NOT start the engine. You will most likely damage the o ring that fits on your water pump. This is the weakest point in cases like these. If you do damage it,you will need, new oil, new radiator fluids and of course, new o ring.

That's all

Buy yourself a measuring jug,a pen and paper and gauge the right amount of oil.
