Shock Rebuild
Just wondering if anyone has rebuilt their Showa rear shocks. My mates CB has sprung a leak. I can't seem to find anything telling you how to replace the seals in the Showa shocks.

Re: Shock Rebuild
The shock contains highly pressurised nitrogen gas. It's not a home mechanic job to rebuild them.earthbound14 wrote:Just wondering if anyone has rebuilt their Showa rear shocks. My mates CB has sprung a leak. I can't seem to find anything telling you how to replace the seals in the Showa shocks.

Re: Shock Rebuild
Sure, you can rebuild them. I too have been looking for a rebuild kit. Google "Showa rebuild," and you will come up with plenty of how-to's (though maybe not specifically for a 400SF).amorti wrote:The shock contains highly pressurised nitrogen gas. And yes, there is nitrogen gas inside, but there is also a valve for releasing the gas. Take care when you're removing the shock valves to cover your eyes since some of the oil is still going to burst out. Once you rebuild the shocks, take them to a shop and have them pressurize them again with nitrogen--just like a car tire. Hell, some shocks even have a schrader valve.
