Replacing trip reset knob

Post by phil x » Mon Apr 11, 2011 10:36 pm

My bike came supplied without a trip meter reset knob......

This is a bit inconvenient on a bike with a smallish tank & no fuel gauge.
After a while pondering I came up with this;

A short length of thick wall vacuum tube pushed tightly onto the brass reset shaft inside the speedo, finish off with a plastic tyre valve cap to close the end of the tube ;)

Works a treat & looks decent too ;)

Reserve doesn't get you far, though. It's horrible riding along a motorway (autobahn is worst as it's illegal to run out of fuel there) and wondering if you'll make it to the next fuel stop.
