NC30 breakdown speedo regulator?

Hi Guys,

To cut a very long day/story short, my NC30 broke down today.

I was travelling along the M1 and noticed the speedo flickering all about. Obviously I thought something was strange so I was nursing her along when the engine started to die but she was picking up with some revs.

I pulled over to check it wasn't fuel starvation but there was plenty in there. As I turned the ignition to start her again, the neutral and oil lights came on and immediatley turned off.

Managed to get her home in the back of a van and I'm about to check the battery and regulator as obviously the problem is electrical. Has anyone else had any similar problems? I have browsed here before posting to see but couldn't see any :|

On the positive side, weather wise, what a cracking day and I saw some real fast lads racing at Mallory Park. There was an NC30 and an NSR250 absolutely storming round. Probably members on here.

Disconnected the battery and found a problem straight away, the earth wire from the battery was broken at the joint. Simple to test and cheap to fix :)

Just before it broke, I was travelling along a bumpy road which may well have shook the wire free. I shall test the bike tomorrow to see the speedo but am I right to assume that the weak battery connection would also have been responsible for the speedo problem?

had the same, earth lead snaps off on a bumpy road and total failure and in you pull.
relief to see when its an easy fix isnt it ?
NC30 and NSR owners on this board - together - nah it will never catch on ;)

Yeah what a relief! Glad it wasn't anything more serious and it didn't happen on the hard shoulder :|

Hmmm might rock the boat and look out for an NSR250 then ;) Won't let my NSR125 know
