right mot booked for wednesday 9:30am, re-fitting the carbs tonight after giving them a good clean think i found why she was playing up a bit through the revs after going over the carbs once again.
then started her up, no issues. let her run and get warm...all good, then switched her off i check all of the indicators. lights and then the horn, this sounded rather crap more than usual. so taking no chances i replaced it with the horn off my blade. all good so far.
went inside put my leathers on, just going to go around the avenue to check the smoothness through the range. turn the key and it was as if the battery was completely flat. starter soleniod 'click, click' click, click' lights on the oil pressure, neutral etc start to dim.
i check the battery showing now around 10 volts. so i go to the rectifier as my first port of call and find this...
so i have now removed this block fitted new connectors and re-fitted the rectifier. checked the battery showing about 11.6 volts. i have stuck her on the trickle charger and will have a look in the morning and check the voltage reading before starting her up.
question is......is the connection block / rectifier the likely cause of this problem?

the rectifiers are a common problem, my block did the same thing.
does your reg rec have cooling fin because if not then i suggest upgrading it.
or do the r6 reg rec mod.

so when you replaced the block / rectifier or both all of your problems were gone?
if thats the case then hopefully when i go out to the garage in the morning after the battery being on the trickle charger all night, having removed the block tonight and putting the spare rectifier on all will be good
i am on the look out for a r6 rectifier but short on funds at the moment, vfr mot wednesday, car mot thursday, car tax today. im pretty skint!

well its no better this morning.
checked the voltage reading before trying to start her and she read about 11.4 volts, she read 11.3 / 4 when i checked her late last night about half eleven. so im guessing it has also killed the battery. the rectifier that caused all these issues yesterday, when the iginition was turned on this morning caused the lights on the gauges to be very low and dim, the spare i have is like normal. very bright lights so the rec has definatley failed.
going now to purchase a new battery...

right new battery on charge.
looking at r6 rectifiers, i would guess the 5 pin 600 fazer rectifiers are the same item? as its the same engine just tuned differently.
any thoughts would be good as i do need to get one asap and this is the most fazer one i have found is the most readily available.

I cant be exactly sure what model r6 its from i think mine was from an 05, but cant be sure.
I replaced the rectifier but it didnt solve the problem as it was my actual alternator coil that was fooked.
Check out the documents library on the main page, that has a charging system check list, so hopefully you can pin point the problem.

cheers fella, i have put the new fully charged battery on and she fired first time no issues, i checked the voltage on the battery at idle & 5k and each time no change from 12.4 volts so looks as either my spare rectifier is duff as well or i have other issues,
will leave her on the trickle charger tonight and look more in depth in the morning.

Best to check the generator also, easy checks with a multimeter, follow the guide in the link above.
If it's dud you risk destroying the reg/rec and your new battery!

will do the checks tomorrow, just got back from the mot and it was a fail but on really stupid things, after all the work i have done i failed on:
REAR WHEEL SPINDLE SECURING NUT LOCKING DEVICE MISSING. - i forgot the split pin. -
RIDERS SEAT INSECURE. - he was not hapy how i have done it, we have discussed away he is happy so that an easy sort. apart from that, i cant believe how little there was for him to find!
nearly there!!
