Steering pulling side to side during turns...

Post by ludacris » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:51 am

Anyone experienced this before and can shed some light?

As I've finally been able to put mostly everything back on the bike, decided to go for a bit of a test ride, during the ride I could feel that the bike would pull to the opposite side of where I was turning...forced me a little wide at one point which wasn't cool.

I've kinda suspected that the bars may not be straight but often dismissed it as me seeing things and bike also has the Tyga steering stopper so could one of these things be affecting it or both?

Sounds like flat tyres to me. Do you mean a steering damper? If so knock it down 5 clicks and report back.

check your rear wheel aint out of alignment and adjusted correctly , any local tyre shop will check this for you.also are your wheels balenced? check head bearings too for play.....also flat tyres as stated pal.

Cheers for the replies guys, the tyres do seem a little flat. I'll have to try it again once I sort out the brakes. I'm hoping its an easy fix...my expenditure is getting out of control

I know this feeling. You could try putting the forks higher in the yokes this will help turning in.
I saw it so I took it!

I usually measure the mid point of teh handle bar to a fixed piont on the tank each side, so you know that they are in the right place.
Have you got the front wheel spacers in the right way round?
have you got the forks ligned up correctly?
Does the front wheel spin freely?
An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!

Head bearings too tight? Squared off tyres?

good suggestions there...the forks are higher up on the yokes, i can see traces of where the use to be previously. i'm putting together an upgraded brake kit so i'll have to check all this when it's install time since the front wheel will be off then...naaah the tyres aren't squared off
