NC35 Electrical Problems *noob* PICS UPDATED!

Hi everyone,
im new to these forums, thought id sign up and see if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I sold my MC22 and replaced it with this beast:

All was going great, ive done about 2000kms on it, then out of nowhere it just stopped while i was riding.
Its an electrical issue im pretty sure, earlier today the lights in the dash are really dim and fade out whenever i tried to start it. Now there is no lights so i think ive drained the battery.

Also worth noteing that i put a brand new battery in it when i bought it..

Im thinking right now of buying a rec/reg off the "bay" and installing it myself, other than that im not sure what to do.

Any help would be hugely appreciated as im *very* inexperienced with auto electrics and motobikes etc.

also im in australia and import regulations mean that the headlights are hardwired to always be on.
dont know if this is part of the problem?

I think you should test your reg/rec before running the bike on your new battery, as if the reg/rec is broken, you will feck your new battery too

If you have a haynes manual you can use the procedure in there to check your reg rec, and genny.

definitely not as I'm sure people would kick up a stink to have regulation (ADR) changes..technically its design rules so regardless if the bike is imported or made locally thats how the lights have to run

But it seems wierd that there is a spacer on the left handle bar which looks just like a headlight on off switch like the cbr250's have.

Another possibility is you have a short in the loom, that is discharging the battery. My 35 had (lights on full time) and providing you dont leave the ignition on with the lights ablaze it shouldn't have any effect.

Beware of reg/recs from the bay, not all are created equal!

well i took the arse end off today just to have a look at the rec/reg thing and it looks fooked. has a crack in it that looks as if its been leaking some kind of fluid
