ive recently fitted the restricters on my 23 and now she doesn't fire at all. ive not managed to get it firing since they were fitted which has led me to believe carb set up will need to be adjusted due to the restriction of fuel etc?

or does anyone know how to cure this problem?
any help is appreciated :)

Check to see if your getting a spark first.... as you shouldnt have to set up the fueling for restrictors.

If your not getting a spark clean the neutral switch located on the underside of the engine. Failing that bump start it as a dirty N switch only seems to disable spark whilst starting on the button..

i need a new chain and sprocket set before i can bump the bike.

when i get some time i'll take the restricters out and try and start her up..
i just find it weird that since they were fitted it dont start and before it was start 1st time without any problems

easiest to check if its sparking first.

i had this issue after cleaning my carbs, when i checked the spark, nothing. I had knocked a wiring connection over the top of the coils and the connector block had become loose, clipped it back together and it started on the button.

my advice is check the spark, if you havent got a spark plug tool, just take the cap off and knock up a tester with a plank of wood and a couple of nails, just take a look in the haynes manual for the tip.

failing that, lick your finger and stick it in the HT lead......... (dont do that !)

Get a Haynes Manual..really helpful!

Checking only one pot will give you a clue to whats going cos you say its not firing at all, so we can assume there is one thing not working for all 4 pots.

If you find there is a spark, Take a plug out to see if there is fuel getting into the cylinder. (you can get to the LH plug (as you sit on the bike) without taking tank/airbox off)

just check one first - if that aint sparking, there is your problemo, you could also always check another from the other coil just to be sure if they are sparking.

situated top of the engine, front of the bike, behind radiator. Take a top side fairing off and turn the bars as far as poss and you will be able to get to at least one. To be fair though, its a lot easier if you take the fuel tank off and get at them that way.

They are quite deep down in the holes so so you might need an extension on your spark plug tool unless its a specific one for this bike.

Make sure it is in neutral.

Why you starting it anyways? It needs a chain to ride?
