I'll be having a go at starting this bike i've bought for the first time over the weekend as i've about done all i can prior to trying to start it. But before i do i just want an opinion on the fuel pump...
I'm hoping i've got the correct fitment of the hoses now, but while the pump was hanging loose and easy to get off i had a go at testing it per Haynes, which basically suggests connecting direct to a 12v source and listen/feel for its operation.
Now when i connect it to 12v source (black/blue wire to '+', green wire to '-ve') i expected to hear a whirring noise. What i actually get is like a single diaphragm 'popping' noise which sounds again when the power is disconnected

Just to be sure i'd tadged it on the right way for off the bike testing, i then reconnected the pump to the bikes loom and turned the motor over. Same sound was heard again.
I can test it further once i have some juice in the tank but just curious as to whether what i'm hearing during test is normal?

Ta,
Rob
