How to re attach vacuum hose down there?

Post by trademe900 » Sat Nov 27, 2010 8:44 pm

Hey guys, pretty stumped on this one... heard nc30 carbs are a nightmare to take off and put back on so would rather avoid that.

vacuum hose must have had better days and it snapped off at the inlet manifold end.

How do you reattach it?

It's hella hard to reach down there.. not even sure if taking carbs off would allow access.

many thanks and really appreciate the quick answers as it's my daily transport.

Carbs off unless you have forceps that will reach or ET's fingers to hand

Ok brilliant i'll just get stuck into it and see what happens, just hope i don't end up breaking more stuff along the way.

I think this is why my bike doesnt run right full throttle with the revs high... like its running out of fuel. If vacuum hose was perished and leaking pressure then fuel cant be supplied fast enough.... though wouldn't this only be sustained full throttle operation as fuel would be feeding from bowls? This problem is literally every time you give it everything.

Don't know how plausible that is?

a fecked vacume hose can cause all sorts of running issues. i would get a new section of hose and replace it, shoudl sove your running problems ;)
And yes i would get the carbs off makes life much easier, and you loose less skin off your fingers and hair off your head

May also be worth cable tie-ing it on at the cylinder end to prevent it coming off again. Mine kept coming off and a little red cable tie has solved that :peace:

Had fuel starvation issues with my NC24 back in the day - turned out the diaphragm in the fuel tap was holed, so couldnt open fully if at all?? ;)

If you used the original tube that had split and come of the cylinder, there is quite a high chance that the tube is perrished in other places, and possibly letting in air or collapsing when you open the throttle.

:plus:
I have also had issues with the diaphram not passing fuel ( but mine was after doing the HRC tap mod)
Might be worth replacing the vacume hose first and take it from there
