12-14,000 rpm flat spot

Post by GCD » Sun Nov 14, 2010 1:51 pm

I have just had my jets changed again. I had tried a factory pro set, which I could not get tuned....should have read this forum before I purchased them!

Anyway, now back to the oriiginal needles, and with a 115 / 118 setup. Low end is ok,I guess it is average on all NC30s... mid range is strong, bit in 3rd gear up it hits a flat spot at about 12,500 rpm. It still revs, but much slower. Is is likely to be caused by too much fuel, or too little? Any suggestions to my setup?

Did you put the rubber flap back that sits around the headstock area? This stops turbulant air entering the carbs causing all sorts of running issues which is noticed more at speed, ie 3rd gear and upwards.

I'll have a look at this. The shop did the work, chances are it did not have one when I bought it. I remember someone talking about this in another post somewhere. Cheers.

:plus: on the rubber flap!

I had a top end flat spot in mine fitted the flap and it sorted it. But I would do some checks on the carb settings too for piece of mind!!
