I use Castrol LM grease, it seems fine for pretty much everything apart from high temp stuff.
I know you can get specific grease for specific jobs, but the LM works fine for me

If in doubt consult the Bible (honda workshop manual)
http://akhara.com/nc30/nc30manuals/VFR4 ... 0R_C01.pdf
LM multipurpose grease is fine for a lot of things, good choice and fairly cheap.
However;
Some components should be lubricated with special greases to avoid undue damage.
Page 4 of that manual will show you all the greases used on the bike.. then if you flick to the part(s) your concerned about you can see what grease Mr Honda originally put there.
General rule of thumb.
Most parts: LM Grease
Bearings / shafts: Molybdenum (moly) grease
Camshafts: High moly grease (40%)
Silicon grease and moly/oil are used too so manuals worth a check

All the chapeters are there...

Have a look at the chapters of the Honda Service book I posted, it'll tell you exactly what grease to put where.

I dont' see why it wouldn't be ok.. the shop manual says
Use multi Purpose Grease, (Lithium based multipurpose grease NLGI #2 or equivalent) though it isn't lithium based..
