Any Special Tools Required?

So coming from the world of cars I have plenty of the usual tools

However I am wondering if there were any specific bike tools I need to obtain in to maintain/rebuild the NC30?

The shopping list already consists of:

1. Haynes Manual
2. Paddock Stands

Is there anything else I need?

You're off to a good start getting those!

You need a long 13mm socket and extension to get the plugs out. Essential. And many more large sockets to take off wheels, yoke, etc.

It's a good idea to get a proper c-wrench chain adjuster to adjust the chain/accentric hub. Tyga website or ebay sell them.

Chain adjusting tool (eBay search 'nc30 chain tool') is the only essential that I can think of for the NC bikes. If you've got all the usual tools and you're getting a Haynes manual and paddock stands I think you're almost covered.

Along the way there are things such as chain breakers, chain press tool, cable lubricating tool, brake bleeding kit, oil filter removing tool which make jobs a lot easier but they're all specific to particular jobs, and there are usually alternatives (ie instead of breaking the chain the proper way, you can just grind through it).

EDIT: beaten by Cammo. yep 36mm socket for the rear wheel nut is something you may not have (assuming the VFR nut is the same size as the RVF nut)

36/41/46mm sockets for the hub, top yoke, rear axle.

Possible a castellated nut i you ever fancy replacing cutch..

M20 x 1.5 bolt for removing the flywheel if the genny melts :D

Set of feeler gauges and vernier caliper for measuring valve clearances and shims (somethign should be done regularly)

Apart from that you'd be surprised how much of the bike you can take apart with the few tools in the toolkit (if you have it)

Have found an abba stand to be more useful/sturdy than a single sided rear stand and it fits my other bikes too

I was just going to say what steve said - an abba stand is a god send and worth every penny ( they aint cheap ) and buy a simple front stand that lifts the front via the bottom yoke.

if planning on a carb rebuild - save tears and stress and buy 4 new carb rubbers now before you start and a long 18"+ philips / posidrive screwdriver. makes the carb removal / refit a 15 min job
