RVF400 Side stand

Post by silentRVF » Tue Oct 26, 2010 10:00 pm

Hey guys,
My side stand is a little bit loose (if I have my bike on the rear stand I can grab the side stand and 'pop' it out to the side a little bit as if the bolt is loose, but I can't tighten the bolt). Also I don't like how the bike sits so low on the stand.

Does anyone know of any sidestands that will bolt straight on but are a little bit longer?

Cheers
PS: What is the rubber on the sidestand supposed to do? (Mine doesn't have it but the Haynes manual states they are supposed to be replaced when they reach a certain point)

The nc29 stand is longer and bolts straight on. It might hit the exhaust though, it does on my bike.

Or you could extend the standard stand.

The vfr has rubber on the end of the stand, not sure that rvf's do.

A quick google image search reveals that the nc29 stand looks alot longer and the bike will sit alot nicer with this stand! Will call a few wreckers and post a WTB thread and see if I can get my hands on one!

My standard stand hits the exhaust springs and if I get a longer stand, depending on how long it is, it will probably hit the pipes. But that's okay, I'll stick some rubber or soft material onto the part of the stand that hits the exhaust so it doesn't damage it. EDIT: hmm maybe not so much of a good idea since it may get a 'little' hot lol. Might need to stick some high temp exhaust tape or something there.. And while I'm at it I might put some on the part of the pipes where the chain rubs on the pipes when there's no weight on the bike haha ;)
