sp1 / fireblade calipers - different pistons?

Post by pugparcels » Mon Oct 04, 2010 8:35 pm

i have a set of sp1 calipers that i have thought about chucking them on the bay as i am not going to need them. so i thought i would give them a service before putting them on.

after stripping them down and removing the pistons, i found them to be black and feel a lot lighter than the stainless ones i have in the same calipers on my fireblade.

does anyone know as whether honda used different pistons in their calipers? or could these be after market replacements?

just dont want to give the wrong info on the listing we all know how many idiots try it on if something is not exactly as it should be!

Try sending a PM to Mattsp1 on here he should be able to tell you if they are standard issue on the SP1 ;)

There were different revisions..and I cannot quite remember who listed them

I think the SP2 were the last of the line and has 34/34 pistons (or soemthing like that) and the earlier ones had 34/32.

I'll try find the post..it is very useful to know.

ALso it details the different m/c ratios so you can get the right one for your moto..

cheers guys, as i am going to sell them im not to worried which master cylinder is best, though again it is useful to know.

i was just wondering if i had a bit of a bodge job or these were originals - checking back through my emails the chap i bought them off had a cbr 600 - 99 reg i think. these have been painted in a bolt gun metal finish ( looks really good ) but i would guess they were black originally not gold like my fireblade ones - hence thats why the pistons are different

everything else looks very clean, complete with ebc hh pads.

any idea what to put them up for price wise?
