Just found this on MCN while looking for headers on Google.
vfrnc21 says:
ive just sold a nc24 and i had to change the down pipes and collector box on that one to which i used the nc 30 cuz there the same exhurst system. ive got a nc21 doing now which i will be useing the same system on that aswel as ignition and a few other things so if any more problems plz feel free to email me
He used an NC30 collector and headers? I didn't think an NC30 collector would fit because the can is on the opposite side

Hmm..
Sounds kinda bullshitty.
The exhaust being on the otherside isn't that big a deal.. the TT-F3 racing kit for the NC24 was on the left hand side too.
The main problem is that the NC30 shock is off-set, unlike the NC24 shock which is in the middle.
When I had a look at it the rear-pipes will hit the central mounted shock of the NC24.
Not to mention the fact the NC30 system splits the banks front / rear and the NC24 being a 180 firing motor should be split left bank / right bank so your gas flow is going to be odd, so even if by some miricale it fitted (i'd like pics of that) it's still a bad idea in terms of exhaust design.
the tt-f3 system splits the gasses left/right as should be done...
Ask him how he got around those issues and for some pics...

I thought it was a no goer (it was on MCN after all) but no harm in checking. The original post is from 2 years ago and he's not posted since
I think I'll end up fabricating a collector over the winter. The one that is on the bike is fairly rusty but it doesn't seem to be blowing yet. What's the bet it will start blowing in the MOT station?

I saw that post and I saw the price, I just can't afford it at the moment. Luckily I have a mate who works for a stainless steel stockholder and there are always planty of offcuts lying around

This is something I've seen pop up before and (apologies for the thread hijack but) I've always wondered whether it is actually and issue or not. Both collectors take the downpipes straight into a square-4 config so surely any resultant reflections would be the same across all pipes regardless of the firing sequence - no?

The stock NC24 system is 4 => 1
The stock NC30 system is 2 - 2 => 1 (front / rear split)
The TT-F3 HRC system for the NC24 is split Left / Right in a 2 - 2 => 1 config (like the NC30 system but differnet split) Same as the other 180 VFR's (750's etc)
It might not make masses of differeneces but Honda must have designed it like it for a reason... and 74bhp wasn't a bad output
Has anyone got pictures of the 30 system on the NC24 from this guy yet?
I'm still pretty sure it'll hit the shock...

aha - right - well that could make a difference then. Sorry, thought the stock '30 system was 4-1 as well.
Doing a PhD in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) at the moment, so this is something I may take some time to model in the future for the craic.

With the NC30 you can see how the front join together, the rears join together then they all meet at the end-can.
The gas flow in the NC24 stock end-can is a work of art... i'll get you a picture up tonight... really interesting.
Oh i'll get you a picture of the NC24 Racing system too... :-)
