nc30 wont idle down??
Ok just finished refreshing my NC30 after being in storage for a year, before it went away carbs where drained etc etc now the time has come to fire her up and it wont idel below 2500-3000.. The choke cable is a bit worn and once warmed up I have made sure its not sticking on, The carbs where cleaned out prior to the restart with no signs of fuel gumming etc. All vacuum hoses are connected as they should be and I have a fresh tank of fuel...
It does rev freely when warm just wont idle down..
PS Have also checked throttle cables and these seem fine SO WHAT NEXT???

When you say you have checked the throttle cables, what have you checked?
Have you checked that the idle adjuster is adusting? Ie the screw is being pushed against the throttle wheel?

Yep idle screw is at the moment set to minimum, throttle cabels are set so they are tight but not opening the carb..

Re: nc30 wont idle down??
Only solution is to take the tank and air filter off and do some checks to see if anything is snagging against the carbs and then if all that is fine. Take the carbs off and check everything with them. seems a bit odd though.

Re: nc30 wont idle down??
Providing all cables are seating properly and there are no air-leaks
I woudl balance them with some vaccumn gauges.
If you back the idler adjuster right out it shouldn't idle.. unless your carb balancing screws are too far in which will hold the idle high.
Ricky on here had that problem, the carbs were way off balance and one of the screws was screwed in too far causing high idle.

The throttle cables should not be tight, you should have a small amount of play.
in the twistgrip.

Re: nc30 wont idle down??
Yeah when I mean tight I mean factory tolerance not loose or so tight that its opening the throttle without pressure.. I have just taken the carbs off again and made sure everything is done up and that the carb rubbers are ok and glad to say they are but still over reving on tick over. So yep next thing get some vac gauges its the only bloody bit of kit I do not have
Thanks for the help

Re: nc30 wont idle down??
Possible ailr leak.
"An increased and steady idle speed can be one of the best warning symptoms for detecting a carburetor air leak. If attempts to turn down the idle speed adjusting screw have failed, it means the blend of air to fuel ratio has changed in favor of too much air passing into the intake manifold. This leans out the fuel mixture which raises the engine speed. The change could be as noticeable as twice the normal engine idle speed!!
Worth checking your carb rubbers for a good seal!

Re: nc30 wont idle down??
spray some carb cleaner around the carb rubbers with engine running ,take note if there is a change in revs.
