standard suspension settings nc 30 rn

Post by yamahaha » Sun Sep 05, 2010 9:13 pm

hi just stripped my forks today and replaced seals / head bearings and noticed some twat had turned the screws fully in on the front forks i presume this is rebound damping. the preload collar was set one ring from fully in and screws were fully in........ any ideas how many clicks out from fully in works best for the damping ??? or even standard settings. i'm guessing probably two or three clicks out

Standard forks are only good for two or three clicks out before they make no difference at all, even then you have to be good to notice much difference, so I'd imaginge "twat" wound them all the way in cos that's about the only setting that offered him/her/it any real damping. One ring from full in is also about right for standard forks made for Japanese heavyweights (about 9 stone wet) but ridden by average British people.

Probably only gOD knows what the standard settings are. They'd be little use to you anyway, because of aforementioned reasons.
