Hello guys,
I'm new to the 400's. Just picked up a 1990 NC29. These bikes are very rare in Canada. I noticed that there is a lot of travel when I push on the tail. It will drop a good 3+ inches when I sit on it. If I hold the bike upright with out sitting on it I can push the tail right down. There isn't any fluid leaking from the shock. I adjusted the preload and truned the tension screw but it still seems soft. Is this normal for theses bikes? Is there a re-build kit for these shocks?
Thanks, Chris.

Re: NC 29 Rear shock
Check the forum. There is plenty about shock replacing. I'm bin mine stock ones and setup with modern FOX Racing - bike is absolutely different handling. Many people set up CBR600 F2 shock - which is cheaper.thisischris wrote:Hello guys,

Any shock from 284mm - 320mm wth appropriate mounting will fit.

Hello fellow Northern American. It is because it is a Mono shock and set up for 130lbs Japanese guys. Replace it with a 04 R6S shock and youll be straight. Look up my post for it.
