Throttle grip, clip on and bar weight random question
I've just bought yet another eBay bargain ( after buying an nc29 for my wife), I've now bought one for myself. Can any one tell me if the throttle grip is proud of the end of the bar as mine is, and does the bar weight fill this short coming to the end of the grip. Appreciate any tech help.

Re: Throttle grip, clip on and bar weight random question
My throttle grip is over the end of the clip on, the inner weight is flush with the end of the clip on and the weight although tight up is still out by about the length of the cut out on the weight, if that makes sense? The clutch side end weight is flush with the end of the grip and no gap as you would expect.

If you've an aftermarket set of grips on, then by the sounds of things you have a long pair on. The NC29 uses a slightly shorter one as the throttle tube isnt as long.

Re: Throttle grip, clip on and bar weight random question
I don't know if they are aftermarket grips, (they could be anything, after all most 400's are owned by at some point by a kid in there late teens with the mechanical sympathy of a house brick!) I've just bought a replacement clip on and throttle grip and they are the same as the one I've taken off. From the inside out you've got, the clip on, then there's the throttle twist tube (the bit the cables go into), this over hangs the end of the clip on by a bit under 10mm. Then the grip over the top is only a few millimetres over the end of the twist grip. Then the bar end weight slots into the end, although looking on eBay, it looks as tho there could be an inner part that goes into the clip on, my end weights are only a 2" long at most. I've only started to play with this as one of the previous owners had replaced the grip but had cut it down to fit the throttle tube, and left the bar weight lose!

Re: Throttle grip, clip on and bar weight random question
There is an inner bar end weight that the outer bar end weight screws into.
My throttle grip has been trimmed back slightly by a previous owner and it is something i have never thought about changing as it does the job and you cannot tell it has been trimmed back really unless you know what you are looking for or had the throttle in bits

Ah that sounds like the problem then, no inner bar weight, as the clip on is hollow, and the current bar weight is just on an expanding rubber bung. Cheers guys
