Post by suzbug » Tue Jul 13, 2010 2:29 pm

Hi guys.
just a quick question, does the nc21 collector box fit the nc24??

I cant remember with any certanty what ive read previously.

If it does, what else will i need to change these over??
ive heard it is a full engine out job to fit it.

Many thanks in advance

Right.

The NC21 collectorbox will fit the NC24 but there are caveats to this.

NC24 Collectobox.

As you can see the NC24 collectobox doesn't have the long output pipe.

This is becuase the NC21 has a Low Level Exhaust and the NC24 has a high level exhaust.

You can also buy the NC21 End-Can (fits straight onto the NC21 collectorbox) from David Silvers for about £60.00

If you do this though you'll need to get the rear pegs from an NC21 too (or fabricate your own hanger bracket) as the NC21 exhaust doesn't attach to the subframe like the NC24, it attaches to the rear footrest.

You'll also have to take the engine out either way.

You could get a Stainless Steel collectorbox that RCV4 has advertised in the General forum the last week, with this you can fit it with the engine in the frame as he builds them with removable rear downpipes.

Plus you can also use your standard can.

Will probably work out a very similar price to a mild-steel one once you factor in all the extras / time you'll need and spend getting a 21 box on there.

thanks neo.

i have contacted rcv4 regarding the stainless, and i do like that option, but there is about £230 difference between the two, so im still considering the nc21 collector.
Looking at the pictures, i think i may be able to modify to accept my high level pipe??
has anybody else done this??

Thanks for the info, it very helpful

You might be able to if you cut it and weld it but I think the angles are different on the collectorbox.

Hopefully if you go down the engine out route the engine comes out easily enough, sometimes the bolts can be a real pig to get out as they've sized solid.
