"This will be added to along with other guides."
do we have an ETA on this?
i have:
Res mods for NC23,29,30, CB400 one for each bike, mod at speedo or CDI
How to mod your headlight unit to make a normal H4 bulb fit with no more faffing about. NC29 for sure, dont know about NC30
how to make your own custom clocks faces NC29, NC30s can be done too
if i put my mind to it, i could do one on how to remove the black limiter disk from the speedo.

can we have a kinda haynes spanner/how hard to do rating? 1 spanner/star/smiley = easy to do. 5= hard

...just realised i am not in the CBR section....

Let me get this right.
The shims are actually the valves, so why do they call it shims.
But any whey I contacted 4 more mechanics about my NC24 not starting in the mornings and they all said the shims need to be re placed.
How do I know if they need replacing?
Can’t I just set them?
The bike doesn’t pull weaker and there is no noise the only noise on the motor is coming from the side where you check the oil level on the 24 and it’s a clinking noise and the mechanic said it can be play on the clutch but I didn’t check that as I still want to sort out the cold start problem.

This is for the NC21 and NC 24.

Valve Clearances (Cold engine)

Inlet Valves ……… 0.11 to 0.15 mm
Exhaust valves …... 0.18 to 0.22 mm

If they tell you your bike wont start in the morning because of the shims, then they are not qualified mechanics.

The nc21 and nc24 do not have shims mate. You adjust the valve clearances by a screw and locknut.

Bad valve clearances CAN stop a bike starting , but that should be present at all times,

My FZR100 used to suffer with that, and they don't get rattly to warn you as they tend to stay quiet even when needing new shims

Just to add information for those following this to adjust the valve clerances on an NC21 or NC24.

The NC2x Engine is disassembled in the same manor as described in the original guide, the valve clearances are measured in the same way also. If there is a valve that needs adjusting the NC2x does not use shims as a means of adjusting clearence, it uses Locknuts and adjusters.

Simple loosen the locknut and turn the adjuster in or out to give more / less clearance until the valve is in spec.

Hey,

How about the front head (cyls 2 and 4) Are the exhaust valves still at rear? or is it opposite to the rear head valves layout?
