lol, not when you have done it 4 times to two different bikes because the first time one happened to measure between the rocker arm and cam instead of the rocker arm and shim.

I did it between rocker and cam for the first head I did.... realised when the shims I needed were mad sizes. I guess we all do it..we all learn and I certainly won't do it again!

Dude, speak English will you..lol

You can get shims at any bike shop - take an old one and the sizes you need and they will sort you out. Can be a fiver a pop though...

I think we need to set up a shim box.

A Supra forum I used to be on had one, so when you got the box, you simply put your old shims in from your engine, and took out the shims you needed and pass on to the next person who requested it!

If you have any spare shims from dead engines etc, throw them in the box to help out other people!

Could save a small fortune as last time I did mine I ended up paying £2 a shim for an exhange!

The is a great idea. Best thing is that it is already in operation. There's a forum member called Rick Oliver who does a shim exchange for £1 per shim rather than the £5 Honda ask. If you need any shims PM or e-mail Mr Oliver, his forum name is RickOliver

Hi there going to have a go at the clearance procedure in a week or two and just thought i would ask a completely dumb question. Where exactly are the shims located and what do they actually look like. I know this prob sounds dumb but like to be sure before my bike is in bits and im in tears.. lol
