Fuel in Oil?

Post by callboy » Tue May 25, 2010 1:11 am

Hi i just dropped the oil out of my mates NC35, it was a dark brown color, not really milky or anything, but there is a strong smell of fuel in the oil.

Is this normal?

The bike has been playing up and apparently won't start, I'm giving it a once over before anything.

Hi

If people play with the fuel tap doing a HRC mod (bypassing the vacuum shut off) they have a habit of dumping fuel into the sump, normaly a fair bit though.

Was the oil level a fair bit over full?

The level was pretty much spot on, I have changed it all now anyways, so I will check it after the first ride and see how it looks.

Thanks for your help,

So no one thinks this could be a blow by problem?

Have you checked to see if the fuel tap is leaking?

Blow-by would be super-heated exhaust gas, not neat liquid petrol.

It could be the carbs leaking petrol into the cylinders when the bike isnt moving as the valves are leaking.
