NC30 Chain and sprocket advice

Hi.

Ive just bought a renthal chain and sprocket set. Ive never fitted chains before. I take it you disconnect the swingarm via the castleated nut rather than break the chain and re- rivet it.

Second question is ive gone for a 14 front 42 rear with a 525 did chain, what performance difference can i expect?

what sort of chain comes revited alreay? The ones i have got of renthal before need to be revited with a chain tool.
Have you opened the packet?

ahh!! Havent actually got it yet , i just presumed they came riveted. Will revise that question when i get it.

Renthal chains come with a rivet link and a split link, your choice but id rivet it. The chain should be supplied split unless you've specified endless.

14 front and 42 rear is this for the road? if so your be flying dude, i put 14/42 on my trackbike for lydden at the weekend and it pulled like a train, have fun

cheers, i will check the chain when i get it. either way i haven't got a riveter or castelated tool.

Yeah its for the road, read a few threads on here about dropping a tooth at the front so i thought i would try adjusting front and back.

I hamfistedly broke my chain tool so I just take it to the shop to sort it for me these days. If no covers or fairings it is only a 15 min job to crack a chain and fit a new one.

Sort your sprockets out before you go...or when you get back - easy as pie. 14/42 will be rapid but falls into the 1/3 uneven wear ratio dilemma - the rollers always meet the same teeth...

What length have you gone for??

14/42 is going to make it accelerate pretty quick, i think your speedo will be out too. Also if you do the rivet yourself, dont over do the tightening of it or you will get a stiff spot in the chain.

as said, it'll accellerate fast, you'll be looking for 7th,8th and 9th gear, great fun but lol

ihad this done to the castrol but only for a weekend, took the 43t off for the track bike and never put it back on, sold it with the track bike unfortunatly....
