NC30 wont start

Hi i brought myself a 1990 NC30 yesterday and now it wont start , the guy i broughtit off started it for me when i collected it and only let it run for min or so, then me and my mate loaded it into his van and drove home, we unloaded it from the van went to start it and it wouldnt, messed about with it all day yesterday and then it started, it ran for a few mins then cut out, just before it started i removed the rear plubs and they were wet with fuel so dried them then it ran, today i removed the rear plugs and one of the frnot pulgs (along with half the skin on my left hand) and they were dry put it back together and still nothing. the bike has been sat for about 10 months and i am unsure if it has been started in that time. please can someone help me out before i ship it off to the local bike garage and get it fixed.

Does that battery have a good charge? 13v + ?
If it has been stood for a while, the carbs might need a bit of a clean.

yeah battery is fully charged, how hard is it to clean the carbs?

It's a bit of an arse first time you do it, but not that tricky.
Have a read of Cammos' post on jetting an nc30, that will give you a far better idea of what is required.
Are the plugs ok, might be worth checking to see they can be quite easy to kill.

Spooner,have you got the vacuum hose fitted correctly? is it kinked? then replace the spark plugs with new ones. take the air filter off and spray some carb cleaner down the stacks, fit it all back togther, charge the battery for a few hours. make sure you have fuel, and the tap is on. full choke no throttle.

it should fire!!

But check the vacuum, i think you have another thread on this problem and you didnt say if the vacuum was correct.

Think i wil get some new plugs tomorrow and fit them and see if that makesa diferance but the fronts are a pain to get to

depends what tap you have, its sometimes on the right or the bottom, i think its the right on early bikes, but it maybe kinked or damaged when you transported it. it just seems funny it ran fine before you got it home, where you based mate?
