I need some help

Post by hieuphan » Fri Apr 09, 2010 7:38 am

I tried to start for the first time and it did start but took awhile Big smile on my face
So the next day i went out and put all the body work on the bike, then tried to start it but no luck.
Could be fueling system ? , i did check it too and there was no issue.
Maybe electrical problems?, but all the lights and controls are working fine.
So i took 1 spark plug out to check if there's any sparks, i inserted the spark plug into the plug wire and lay it against a piece of metal to see if theres any spark but no, so i tried the other 3 and end up with the same result. Could this be ignition problem?

Hope you guys could give me some advice.
Thanks

the most simple things are the easiest to check first, check the block connectors on the right hand side of the bike, its under the main fairing panel. then work back to the cdi making sure everythng is plugged in.
also check the reg / rec - i left my bike for a year & when i went to re-start it, it burned the reg / rec loom section out!

if its not any of these things you will need the help of the guru's on here, i can make a bike work but i need it in front of me.

good luck.

Rest the plugs against the frame of the bike when testing them, most likely theyre fouled with carbon and need to be cleaned off. If they are looking wet after cranking a few times then you are getting fuel. Make sure your battery is fully charged and reads 12.5 V or more. If no fuel check the vacuum hose and fuel valve

Thanks for your advice.

Spent a fair bit of time in the garage today.
New plugs, cabs checked, fully charged battery and checked all the electrical, all are in working order beside when im testing all 4 plugs to see if theres any sparks but no luck.
Then put everything back together, hit the starter button. After fews time it did make a big BANG, backfire and i can see smoke exist the pipe.
Any idea?

If you got it to backfire it must be making spark?

Are you earthing the spark plug properly to make the spark?

Kill switch ok?

Changing the ignition box for a known good one is easy to check.. but it doens't seem likely if you had it running and it all of a sudden pack up.

Have you damaged a wire or have a bad earth / loose plug? Maybe when you re-assemble the bodywork you damage a wire?
