have just re-newed the clutch friction plates and diaphram springs, after taking it around the block for a test ride it seems the slipper clutch does not work as it did before they were changed, is this because of the new plates/springs or because i have assembled it wrong?

Slipping too much or too little?

rear wheel was locking up far to easy on down shifts, but it seems all good now after 100 miles lol

but the cable had to be adjusted all the way out on both the cable and the engine for the free play to be taken out, but wasnt like this with the old unit, surely it should be the other way around?

did you measure the plates? you might have fitted a slim stack and it will only get worse..

What make was it? I had a similar experience on a set of Kyoto plates. They were cheap..and crap

Was your clutch slipping badly before you changed it.because if it was the slipper would probably not bite the same change down.

The clutch was slipping extremely bad before it was changed.

The friction plates & the diaphram springs are both by EBC. The are twice the thickness of the old ones, they were fooked, and also the springs seemed alot thicker than the old set.

I've noticed that after coming back to the bike after a good run, the clutch cable has no free play, so im able to back it off a tiny bit, ive done this about 3 times now. Is this normal ? lol

Sounds to me like the new plates are bedding in.

Clutch pack assembled height is critical - did you measure it - have had no end of bikes in with quickly fried EBC clutches with incorrect assembled pack heights.
