Re: nc29 carb needles
Hi Stimpy
I have a set of VFR400 needles that came with the bike but I've never fitted. Apparently they are meant to make it a bit stronger in the mid-range (whether that's richer or not who knows). I'll pull them out over the weekend and post some measurements
cheers
danny

Re: nc29 carb needles
Stimpy,
Took so long stuffing round on the dyno to get ny NC29 sorted I never got to try the 600 F2 needles, but I have them plus a set of HRC needles designed to be used with the short velocity stcaks that you can try if you are interested.
I'm not sure which ones the RB guys recommend to use it was rvf or VFR.

Re: nc29 carb needles
Here's the details on those needles Stimpette:
Honda part 16151-MR8-003, off a V4 400 (not sure which), J51B stamped on base
total needle length from top of seating face (the face of the 'washer' part closest to the point): 43.4mm
dist from seating face (SF) needle diameter
10 2.46
20 2.32
25 2.22
30 1.94
35 1.70
40 1.44
42.2 (crest of the point) 1.36
I'll send you a scan of the drawing directly. Unfortunately I won't be getting to Broadford next weekend, a couple of other commitments there that have to take precedence I'm afraid
cheers, Danny Builth-Snoad

Re: nc29 carb needles
Those needles are standard VFR400 needles (front carbs). I can't help you with what other needles will fit the NC29, but if VFR400 needles do fit, I've got a load of different needles with different lengths, base diameters etc.

Re: nc29 carb needles
Scott, it might be worth having a look at RVF needles the carbs are very similar to NC29.

Just saw this bit.stimpy wrote:i had a look at some hrc rvf needles at tarmacs the other day, they are about 5mm to short.
The hrc vfr needles are about 5mm shorter than std, the rvf might be worth a shot.

Re: nc29 carb needles
Yeah, I took the opportunity to bag my 'normal' tag which had already been taken on the old forum. I guess there's someone out there cursing me as we speak. There's a bunch of other names that are new but the people seem to ring a bell. It's kind of like one of those parties where everyone is shagging in a pitch back room and slowly the lights come on, they had a familiar feeling but you couldn't quite place it until it's made clear.
