fuel tap / vacuum query nc30
ive had the tank off me bike over the last few days as i was doing valve clearences, just going over a few things , carbs stripped and cleaned then ive turned my attention to the fuel tap, now am i right in thinking that no fuel should come out of the tap in the on or reserve positions as fuel should be sucked out of the tank while on the bike, as mine pisses fuel if i turn the knob i was in the understanding that the tap works on the vacuum from no.3 cylinder and not gravity fed , (or am i just a twat)

Yep spot on, I would say your tap is buggered. If your carb float valves leak while this is happening then you risk filling the cylinder with fuel and bending a conrod when you start it.
Rick Oliver sells rebuild kits. I had a leaky tap, so I fitted a small plastic inline fuel tap (like off a lawn mower or similar) and just turn this off to stop the flow.
