Since were on the subject of swapping bits over, could you put an nc35 clutch into an nc30 or visa versa?

Dropped a bollock, i forgot to stake the new clutch nut !

Also, 'may' have to retap the thread on one of the crankcase bolt holes, one seems to be turning.

Filled up with 2.4 litres of fresh oil, after draining off the 2.5 litre of fresh i chuck in to run through the system with a new filter, gonna go see if it all works in a mo :)

Hello all - stupid question time... do you *need* to use a new clutch nut? (I see David Silvers Spares are temporarily out of stock and was just wondering...!)

Rick O will sell you one. If you're going to all that trouble, might as well do it right I say... ;)

As the chap above says, when you have it striped you might as well do it right.
However the clutch nut has a rim on the whole circumference so it could be staked at any point along that. So technically no you don't need a new one

Thanks guys - definitely a case of "if you are going to do it, might as well do it right". I'm just finished with the work now, was a bit more difficult that I had hoped due to the horrendous job the previous owner had done! He obviously hadn't got the clutch nut tool and must have tried to use a punch or drift or something to hammer the nut round. All of the castellations were well mullered, and it was impossible to tell if it was staked or not because there was so much bent metal. I eventually hammered the socket on and with the help of some rags in the gear teeth, was able to get it off - so for all the bent metal it must not have been staked properly.

Weirdly, there was also evidence that he/she had tried to hammer the pressure plate off as the three notches in the outside were a bit banjoed as well. There wasn't a gasket on the cover either - just a load of instant gasket or something similar...

Thanks a lot for posting the video - it made the whole thing a lot easier!

Can anyone tell me if that castellated nut is the same size as the engine mount on the right-hand side?

Thanks.

Cheers. I bought a CNC-ed nut from Ebay for the engine mount, so I'll have to do further research.
