Overhauling the Brakes - Renew Brake Master cylinder?

hiya all,

Ok, overhauling the brakes. I'm having Braided hoses put on. I imagine with the increase in load from these brake lines, the workshop needs to needs to look at the rest of the braking system:

1) Renew Brake Master cylinder?
* as per haynes manual
* I see "repair packs" for £20 on the web. Is this the service kit for the Brake Master cylinder for the NC29?

2) Brake caliper Seals?
* Replace as a matter of course?

3) Brake Caliper overhaul? Whilst replacing seals!

Is there anything else that needs to be done?
What type of Braided brake line is best?

Hope you can advise!

Cheers
Martin

Increased load??

anyhoo...if you can afford it yes I would replace the seals and pistons in your calipers it will make a world of diference.

Master Cylinder I would repace with one froma newer model

as for lines they are all the same...a heads up though, the last 2 times I have ordered braidd lines I have ordered M&P budget braided lines and everytime the sent me goodridge for 1/3 of the price.

Hiya Tanuki,

Cool - your the 2nd person to say braid lines don't increase the pressure - its all about spongyness. Cool! 8)

Will try the M&P Budet lines idea! 8)
