My bike doesn't have any airbox. It has been cut by a former owner

As I bought it as a track bike (and I use it as such), I suppose he wanted to increase the airflow



Have you ever seen this on an nc30 for the track? Is it dangerous?
Can it damage the engine?

Without the tank, the blend "gas - air" was poor (or rich, don't remember ). That was said by my honda dealer.
Is the ratio gonna be the same with the tank on the bike or not?

What would you do? As you know much better the nc30 than us (the french )

I think I'll have to buy a complete airbox, no?

they run crap without the air box thats the generous concensus

What does it run like? if its been used as a trackbike then its likely its setup to run like that. Get it to a proper tuner, not a honda main dealer if its not running right, most main dealers wouldnt know what there looking at with this kind of setup. What exhaust is fitted?

... until I crashed

The bike flipped over



Then, first time I started the bike after the crash, it sounded normal to me , except at 5000 rpm where there was "a noise".
Regardless, I decided to ride the bike in the street to see its behaviour.
From 0 to 5000 rpm, nothing to say, then the bike started to have difficulties to run. And I couldn't exceed 7000 rpm


I suspect the jets are dirty

Without crashing, I wouldn't have changed something. But as I have crashed, the setup may have been affected


PS : my exhaust is a carbon micron

Those carbs have been modified to run without an airbox (air jets restricted) so there shouldn't be any running worries. Race bikes without airboxes are common down under.

I doubt that a crash will ruin your carb settings, best to look elsewhere for the problem.

Is it running on all 4 cylinders after the crash?


Check the basics first.

Looks to me as if the previous owner has done the HRC mod to the carbs drilling holes and fitting short emulsion tubes etc - a good set up when it works

does it sound like its cutting to 2 cyliders at 5K? is the speedo conected? if not the rev limit wire from the ecu needs to have a +12v feed. The crash may have dislodged something

That's what I think about the settings, but my honda dealer kept me guessing...

I think I'm gonna assemble the bike tomorrow. And then I'll see how it runs.

No the bike isn't restricted
