NC30 / NC35 Front wheel

Post by fastdruid » Sun Jun 15, 2008 3:14 pm

Are the NC30 and NC35 front wheels identical fitment?

Looking at the NC30 microfiche there are different spacers in the middle depending on year, are these different lengths?
Does anyone have the correct width for the NC35 inner spacer?

Measuring what I have, the
NC35 forks are spaced 170mm apart (in between the flats at the spindle)
NC35 spacers are 21mm and 28mm wide
Bearings are 6004 which are 12mm
Measuring the wheel I have (NC30) it's 114mm in between the outsides of the bearings which means the spacer in the middle is 90mm.

So adding that lot up comes to 163mm, so somewhere I've lost 7mm :?:

Anyone able to confirm that or tell me if something there is wrong?

Haven't had much to do with NC35s but pretty sure on an NC30 the spacers don't take up the whole distance between the forks.

Axle is pulled into one fork with a cross bolt tightnening it all the spacers up then the caps are tightened against the axle.

rfv will run different spacers than vfr, contact R oliver, G FRance or Gazzah, they can all get you the correct spacers.

I've got the NC35 spacers that go either side but the wheel has 7mm of 'freeplay' in between the forks with them. I fitted the spindle as it's fitted to the road bike[1], the line on the spindle flush with the outside of the fork.

This was why I was wondering if the inner (in the middle of the wheel) spacer was different or anyone could confirm the measurements.

As it's a bitsa there is a slim (but non-zero) chance the yokes are off something else or even it's not an NC30 wheel. Even worse it could be bent forks but I can't detect it if so.

I suppose I should take the front wheel off our road-going NC35 and compare but tbh I'd rather not!

Hi youve got to use the rvf spindle and spacers together as the rvf is slightly wider in the forks and the rvf spindle has a different lenth spindle works ok with a nc30 wheel thou ive got one in mine :D Russ

I've got the RVF spindle and the spacers either side of the wheel.

But is the inner spacer (in the middle of the wheel) different or not?

ie can you take an NC30 wheel and slot it straight into an NC35? Or do you have to pop one bearing out and replace the spacer in the middle of the wheel with the NC35 one before you can use it?

yeah i didnt change nowt as long as you havent got the nc30 spindle and spacers in the rvf forks then it should work as the nc ones are 15mm and 21or22mm wide and the rvf ones are 21mm and 28mm if i remember corectly and the rvf spindle is longer by 5mm ish :D Ichanged my bearings but not the spacer in the wheel. In that case something is wrong somewhere, I can think of three things

1) Forks bent, does anyone have the measurements between the flats at the spindle?
2) Different yokes, I can measure this fairly easily off the road-bike
3) Different spacer, anyone got the dimensions of the NC35 inner spacer?

I'm still assuming it is actually an NC30 wheel....
