I've heard of people making movable brackets to get aerodynamic benefits on the track, anyone know about this?

When you say areodynamic do you mean hiding number plate from fuzz... lol
With your nuts and bolts try using a washer and then a spring washer. The spring washer keeps tension on the nut so it wont undo and with the normal washer should allow you to move it fairly easily.
With "a windy bit" why dont you think about using a servo out of an rc car or summit. then you could operate it with the flick of a switch....

hehe bro, well some might use it for that on the road, but a lot of people are interested in every benefit they can get on the track.

Aerodynamic improvement on the track????
So surely fitting this contraption, and the time and effor tgone into doing so, was that much easier than removing the numberplate when on the track seeing as this would actually give better aerodynamics??
LOL I cant get my head around this one other than it bieng used purely to get away form chasing people.

A lot of systems seem complicated...

removing the plate would also reduce weight
like the idea of servo operated tho, but Id be more interested with a quick release tail tidy that was a block connector to the indies built in so the whole number plate and indies come away in 1 quickly

my solution for this problem is simple. usually it takes 24 seconds to mont/ unmount:
on the road:
on the track:
