did you test the CDI yet? or even put up a question askign somebody if they would test it like I said to do?xivlia wrote:could you expand on it a bit more? what was it with the kill switch? how did you fix it.
im going to type this out again incase you forgot as i have 2 minutes while the bath fills up.
I still dont reckon they are broken, like I said before you most likely have a wiring fault, as highlighted by changing the cdi (and moving the wires) making the brake light work again.
It could be the switch or a related serach but it could be mny things, you need to FIND the problem instead of
trying to fix the symptoms.
If you goto the doctor he checks based upon your symptoms to FIND the problem and treat that, if you go in with stomache ache it could be anything from acid reflex, cancer, appendicits etc etc.
The doctos doesnt just whip out your apppendix becuase it might be the cuase, he / she will investigate.
If your cdi is not fucked then the bike isnt killing them, if the bike IS killing them you have a more serious problem than the bad wire.
If they are OK then you have something killing your spark right, this is EASIER to find as the spark circuit is small, look at the wiring diagram, something must be shorting out to earth to stop the spark so find that and fix it.
If the CDI is dying then something is much worse.
do the very simple things you are told nd it will become fixed, keep asking how people fixed similar problems and you will waste time money, more time, more peoples time, and maybe eventaully fix it.
Look at the hanyes or honda book, many totally differnet problems have similar symptoms.
bad idling.
-> electrical
-> carb jetting / slow circuti
-> air leak
-> fuel tank
-> vaccum tap
-> valve clearnaces
-> bad balance
-> bad fuel
-> worn plugs / filter.
Now you can see many issues can cause the same sypom, instead of mindlessly trying everything in some random order, identify alll the possible causes, sort them out in the most obvious / easy to check and check / test things one by one until you find the issues.
CDI testing is easy for you, put up a thread, post it to somebody kind enough with a return envelope / box and get it tested.
