Thanks man.
I don't quite get the diagram but you're saying there's a screw inside that centre hole?
Is it possible I could have destroyed the screw inside there? It's impossible to see down there but I can not get any kind of grip with a phillips screwdriver. Not sure if the size is very particular or anything.
Well and truly stumped, what an idiot.

Ok I've managed to get the best look I can down that tiny hole and there is no screw head or anything down there to turn.
About to give up... doing my head in too much.

Ok had a look down all 4 diaphragm holes the best I could. All 4 have no screwheads to turn. The NC35 needle must come apart differently or all 4 of these screws have somehow been rooted.
PLEASE help. What does the Haynes say about the NC35 anyone?

Sorry for my misinformation - was ont twigging the '35 style..
As it happens..I have just beena dn serviced my 35 carbs..
The needle presses out the slide. Place the tip on the bench, push it and the cover slides out the slide..et voila.
Sorry!
Hope this finds you before you get the rope tight and jump off the chair

Ok so just found the single 0.5mm stock washer.
Looks like it's a stock setup with 108's but the pilot screws all messed up. Hopefully this gives me my bottom end and cures the 3k flatspot.
1. Since this is a stock but louder gutted pipe will the 108's be good? It runs well at the top end so should probably keep them eh?
2. Worth putting an extra washer under the needles on the 35 stock setup or not?
3. Pilot screw settings with a louder pipe should be more lean or rich?
4. Stick a bit of cardboard in front of the airbox to recreate that flat section in the front of the headstock?
Thanks.

108's should be fine.

Normally I would go for the hrc replica slide springs over an extra washer (Rick Oliver sells them), but given your bikes symptoms (and distance from Rick lol) I think it's certainly worth trying an extra washer.

Difficult to say, usually the pilot screws need to be set slightly richer, but stock setting would probably be the best place to start for your setup.
4. Stick a bit of cardboard in front of the airbox to recreate that flat section in the front of the headstock?
Not sure whether this would have any effect, best bet is to try and source the original part, anything else will be a compromise.

Ah... talk about starting with the simple things first; just realised the air filter is quite dark and dirty. probably got more to do with it than the pilot screws.

I dont think that there is and piece of plastic there anyway. I think the 35 only has the rubber flap.
Check it out on here the only thing there is the rubber flap that you have Number 2 on this diagram
