The 30s run lean in the midrange hence drilling the slide and shiming the needle to richen up this part of the rpm range, the 35s run rich in the same area so i wouldnt drill the slides or shim the needles, if anything the needles could do with being lowered or a slightly stronger spring fitting to lean it out a bit.
My 35 has 125s all round, race foam filter,tyga twin stack system.

Thats interesting. I was thinking with no filter running maybe a 140/142.5 at most. 150 really seems excessive, was also thinking of lowering the needles a bit post my dynojet runs, it went mega rich in the midrange starting at 7 and only came good after 11/12k. I think I know how I want to proceed now.

While your checking your jets check that the emulsion tubes are in the right config, cylinders 1 and 3 need the bottom hole (3rd) to the higher ones, ones at the front have the 3rd hole lower. There is a pic on this website that explains it brilliantly.

I found going back to stock needles shimmed 1mm, standard springs and drilled slides was bang on for my mid range. (Running no airbox and short stacks)

the above emulsion tube config is great advice, and if the carbs have been apart by a previous owner and not put back properly, is possibly not noticed, I'll check that on my carbs as they are back off again.

Since everyone is checking in... my race setup is thus...

Jets : 150 all round currently. (Might go a 152.5 on rear if next dyno appears lean)
Needles : Standard 1mm shimmed
Air filter : NONE
Airbox : NONE
Air Tray : Standard - to be RB-Imports shortly.
Stacks : 4 short stacks
Slides : Drilled to 2.5mm
Wiring : Moved to right frame

Smooth as mid range, transistions nicely to a decent power range. Pulls hard up top, dyno shortly ;)

Drilling the slides does not enrich your mixture.

It affects the throttle response.

Which is what the HRC springs do isnt it? id rather fit them than drill the slides as drilling cant be rectified.

No, the HRC springs are in place of a washer so instead of a washer keeping the needle open a bees dick more throughout the rev range, the spring only enriches from midrange onwards.
