By the sounds of it you have the same kind of "mod" that was done to my bike when I first got it.

You'll need a new airbox base plate, and the rubber engine flap.

Also as mentioned above, get a look inside the carbs to see what you are running :peace:

Try eBay for the flap, or put a wanted ad up on here ;)

How is it restricted, inserts in the carb rubbers?

If they are missing you will need.....

Rubber flap thingy...(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-VFR-400 ... 53f2f16c3c)

Air box snorkle thingy.....(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/honda-vfr-400 ... 5d3fec784f)

As has been said - put it back to standard (Honda knew what the were doing) and once the air supply is sorted check how it goes (much better I suspect) and if needed re-jet the carbs to suit the exhaust.

Yea it's restricted by the carbs, cheers monkey gonna have to invest in one of them too  . Cheers NGneer will have a look round for someone breaking a nc30 nearby. Yea I hope this sorts the problem too, and will check the jets cheers. My bike has been fitted with a radiator coolant bottle at the front (doesn't have the normal coolant bottle under the seat) how do I go about checking the coolant level can I just open the radiator cap and check that way?

Jesus 120 rears and 130 fronts, idealy it should the rear that has bigger jets and smaller at the front read the carb thread on here, thats going to be running so rich and then air restrictors in the carbs aswell.
