Managed to source one locally, cheers bikemonkey :)

Now I need an abba stand and adapters which aren't cheap...

For gearing, check out:

http://www.gearingcommander.com

Will let you see the difference between different sprocket setups and also the same tooth/link value near the bottom.

The lowest point on the suspension linkage (dogbone?) has a knackered bushing, very nearly failed the MOT on it. Where would I find the correct size bushing and what's the easiest way to replace it? ...

...and which bushes would sir like (http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-vfr400r3-199 ... ml#results) ;)

As for physicaly replacing them - I don't know. I have never done these ones (yet) so not sure if these are a case of a genuine "NEED a proper press" or like many others can be knocked in using the right sized socket as a drift.
