Not too many of these left (or the VF500F) as lots of the engines were destroyed by stretchy cam chains which wreck the cam lobes and ultimately everything else, then they get thrown away!
Nice to see you putting one back together, keep up the good work.

Re: nc13 ... vf400
love the manual copy please
it wont be a restoration. i know folk like to see stuff restored but this was a box of spare parts obtained when my friend bought a complete running vf400. this will just be a bitsa build built using whatever is at hand and works for the bike
so long as the motor is good and it runs well, the rest is just aesthetic really.

the paint i started sanding off the frame - ive made mounts for the tank and had a reshape of the subframe
im not going to use the originalback end ive got this tz750 race seat unit that will give it a unique look - i like it because it has that honda esque tail fin the vf has

i just want to get the wiring sorted out now but the loom is crazy. i thought it had been chopped up, but on unwrapping it found it to be in very good condition and unmolested... but no wires for lights, clocks ignition. as i started to go through the boxes of parts i found the switch gear, these seem to clip into the fusebox of all places and they contain the wiring for the lights - i dont have the ignition but looking at the wiring dfiagram it seems that that clips into the fuse box and takes two of the clip spaces that im trying to figure out

Re: nc13 ... vf400
I'm not happy with the subframe, i think im going to chop the lot off. i want itto follow the lines of the tank, but because the shock is mounted from it, when i repositioned the back, i had to leave part down so i didnt alter the ride height etc. which is why it has that little flat spot.
i think what ill do is cut it all off and make new mounting points for the shock. the seat unit should be here sometime this week so i can custom fit it to suit the seat. ill hide the battery in the seat and mount the electrics to the underside
