Based on when one winding on your alternator gives out - This will give your regulator a harder time, I wouldn't advise it.
Can't say I've had a problem after dropping a phase from the stator to reg rec in the 6 years I've raced the bike......
Fried a reg rec Pryor to the mod ;)

Maybe it's only a problem if you're using headlights!
