i can do it to single carb's 2 strokes..

with plug chop's etc and a mid 80's jet is suited to a 1999 > 2005 RS50 with full arrow exhuast..

but the fact that the CBR has 4 carbs.. it feels like a whole new ball game..

Jets are jets matey - Keihin jets from your local shop (or on here) will sort it out.

seat of the pants - a lean bike will rev cleanly and will not have any power - you'll have white plug tips

a very rich bike will be obviously sooty in the end can and is not very crisp - it is almost choking itself on fuel.

Take your airbox off - ride the bike - that is lean.

tape up the airbox, ride the bike - that is rich.

On the reading thing - don't put yourself down - you have got 80yrs of shit to deal with in the future, so you are going to get the reading skills down - so keep at it mate. The more you try it, the easier it becomes to get it first time.

You can always try Graeme France. He sorted me out with some main jets (dynojets?) for mine. From memory the Haynes manual says RRJ needs 115 mains as standard, mine had 110's (keihins) in for some odd reason - presumably it might have been restricted in the past. Dunno but as its not restricted now and has a stainless system it was missing at full throttle so i just guessed it was lean up top. Good guess as the new mains sorted that out.

If you find out you need 110's, you can have the ones i took out.....if i can find them.

I have now got my main jets sorted but the bike is def rich at tickover, end can looks like a coal chimney and when i get off it my clothes stink like like fuel/soot !

I have just left it for now and will get it on a dyno when funds permit as although i have read up on it, i just cant get it sorted.

Dan - what jets are in there now, and what have you done to the carbs since owning the bike?
