I think i have a relay in the garage will have a look for you,

you only need a 10a-20a relay.

found this on halfords website, they only list 30A as there smalled 4 pin relay

Ok, a relay will just do what I've done and bridge blue to blue and white I'm assuming? No idea what the other two wires do, I connected them together and blew a fuse.

Using a continuity tester and my old switchgear, I've figured out if I pass current in through black with red stripe then the white cable coming back from the switchgear will have current if high is enabled. So if I can get this white cable to meet my circuit for dipped, everything should work.

My problem is, I can't find where this white wire surfaces once it goes back in to the loom. I've used a continuity tester and it doesn't appear to be any of the wires behind the clocks in the terminal blocks. I might bodge some wire on from the terminal to the full circuit and from this white wire to the dipped circuit - just to test if it all works using this setup (then at a later date fit relays).

Will report back.

youll need relays my friend, this is why your old switch probally packed in.

bodging it should only be used as a short term solution,

it would apear that maybe one of the wires is either shorting or, its wired incorrectly,

i cant help anymore via the internet as its now a case of fault finding im free this weekend if you fancy a chundle over.

Of course there's about 2 meters of cable hanging on the floor that it's running through... but it works! I need to find where this white cable surfaces and connect it to the dipped beams. Then I need to see where the blue cable is going (I think it's going to the full beam dash LED) and bridge that to the full beams.

Then everything will work. But obviously this is a temporary solution, once I get it all working, I'll get a high beam relay installed soon. (I'll not use my lights for a few weeks as much as I can) Then I'll see about doing the low beam relay hack.

Haha, even though it's not fixed yet and not perfect, quite proud of myself.

Cheers for all your help Rick, I think I'll head to the gym now, order a high beam relay and a low beam relay tonight, then set about fitting the high beam (and making sure it all works). Once that's done, I'll set about doing the low beam relay hack.

hey dan

check this buddy this will get your dipped beam connected onto the relay as for the high beam

High Beam

30 = Live = Black & Red
85 = Ground = Green or to Frame/Chasis
86 = Switch Live - High Beam = Blue (To Bulb/Lamp)
87 = Switch Live - High beam = Blue & White (From Switch Gear)

Dipped Beam

30 = Live = Black & Red
85 = Ground = Green or to Frame/Chasis
86 = Switch Live - Dipped Beam = White (To Bulb/Lamp)
87 = Switch Live - Dipped beam = White & Blue (From Switch Gear)

At the moment I'm sat in the garage, there's a white wire that comes back from the switchgear when dipped are enabled, but using a continuity tester I can't find where it resurfaces anywhere :S None of the terminals are connected to it, doesn't appear under the left or right fairing. The hunt continues...

I imagine it's pretty impossible for you to help me on this one, but I just can't find where that white wire goes. It comes back from the switchgear with a current going through it to power the dipped circuit, it goes in to the loom and then just disappears. None of the wires coming up behind the clocks (terminal blocks) are white either, which really throws me off. So unless it changes colour somewhere along the line, but there's no continuity at all between any terminal and this white wire.

Really pissed off, this is the last bit I need to get it working and it's as simple as a single wire. I could just do my own bodge, run a piece of wire from the switchgear straight to the dipped lights (or down to the left fairing, relay, then up to dipped) but that's kind of defeating the point. I want it to work like it should.

Have you got a haynes manual or wiring diagram?

Just have a look at where the wire goes.
